The outdoor clothing firm led by the first female founding CEO of a Swedish listed company

Making clothes was something Pernilla Nyrensten had done since childhood and she used her skills to create leading outdoor wear brand RevolutionRace

When and where did you start your business?

I started RevolutionRace in my father’s garage in 2013. I designed our first pair of trousers and took to Facebook to engage with customers, something that wasn’t necessarily as commonplace as it is now, and the response was really powerful.

How long had you been designing clothes for?

I’ve been making and selling clothes most of my life, as I sold my first garment when I was eight, and from that moment I loved it. I often heard people saying at the trade fairs I went to in Sweden that they couldn’t find the outdoor clothing they really wanted – combining the colour options, comfort and technical excellence at an affordable price.

You’re now a public company. How has that gone?

We just published our latest quarterly figures, and we’re really pleased. It’s also great to be the first ever female founding CEO to take her company to the Stockholm Stock Exchange in the exchange’s 160-year history.

How did Covid-19 affect your business?

Thankfully it didn’t have a major impact as we were growing faster than the competition in the outdoor segment prior to the pandemic. We were not adversely affected by supply chain issues as we have excellent supplier and logistics partners, and we worked hard to avoid any issues.

What are your plans for the rest of this year?

We’re determined to reach our goal of becoming one of the best-loved and strongest brands of our kind.
