The 5 best FPL tips for Gameweek 37

If you are still in possession of your Bench Boost chip now is the time to use it with six teams playing twice

The penultimate gameweek of the Fantasy Premier League season is a big one with six teams playing twice in a bumper round of fixtures.

If you’re still in possession of your Bench Boost chip this is the time to play. Brighton, Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United, Newcastle and Tottenham are the clubs with two games.

As a result, i‘s Gameweek 37 tips are focused solely on players from the double gameweek teams.

The Gameweek 37 deadline is at 11am on Saturday 11 May.

i‘s top scorers in Gameweek 36

  • Erling Haaland – 21 points vs Wolves: Ominously for Arsenal, Haaland looks to have rediscovered his top form just in time to fire City to a fourth Premier League title in a row. He scored four times against Wolves and was absolutely furious to be denied the chance to score a fifth after being subbed.
  • Bukayo Saka – 10 points vs Bournemouth: A penalty, a clean sheet and two bonus points ensured a second successive double-digit return for Saka. Despite that, he is being heavily sold as FPL managers snap up double gameweek midfielders.
  • Cole Palmer – 8 points vs West Ham: Chelsea’s Player of the Year started off the rout against West Ham but frustratingly for owners was unable to add to his tally as Nicolas Jackson and Noni Madueke took on the goalscoring mantle.

Noni Madueke (Chelsea)

Manchester City aside, Chelsea look like the best team to triple up on for Gameweek 37 as they appear to be ending an inconsistent campaign on a high after recording three wins and a draw in their last five games.

Cole Palmer is the third most popular asset in the game right now and Nicolas Jackson is also attracting plenty of transfer market interest after some encouraging displays, but Noni Madueke is flying under the radar as a low-owned, in-form attacking option.

The winger has amassed more FPL points over the past two gameweeks (with 28) than any other Chelsea player and has almost twice as many as Palmer (16) in that period.

His underlying stats are extremely promising too. Madueke has had 12 shots in his last three appearances, second only to Palmer, and has created 10 chances, more than any of his teammates.

Josko Gvardiol (Man City)

Pep Guardiola is notorious for ruining the best-laid plans of FPL managers by rotating his team heavily in double gameweeks, but with zero margin for error in the title race it seems unlikely that he’ll make too many changes.

Josko Gvardiol has grown into City’s inverted left-back role as the season has worn on and is currently enjoying his best form for the club since making a big-money move from RB Leipzig last summer.

The Croatian has been an FPL diamond lately, scoring two goals and providing two assists in attack and keeping two clean sheets at the other end in his last four appearances.

His total of 39 points since Gameweek 33 is more than any other defender.

Price: £5.1m Points: 94 Gameweek 37 fixture(s): Fulham (a), Tottenham (a)

Son-Heung min (Spurs)

Tottenham are on a rotten run of form having lost four consecutive games to all but end their Champions League qualification hopes.

They could yet end Ange Postecoglou‘s first season strongly based on their remaining fixtures, though. In between facing almost relegated Burnley and already relegated Sheffield United they take on Manchester City who have never won or scored at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in four previous league visits.

Son Heung-min hasn’t been at his best lately but has still contributed two goals in his previous three games against tricky opponents and registered his biggest haul of the season in the corresponding fixture against Burnley in September. The South Korean has a great record against City too, netting eight times against them, including four in five at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Richarlison (£6.8m) is an interesting alternative for those wanting to do something different after coming off the bench to grab a goal and an assist during Sunday’s defeat at Anfield.

Alexander Isak (Newcastle)

If you don’t yet own Alexander Isak or Anthony Gordon (£6.4m) make sure to buy at least one of them (but preferably both) this week as Newcastle’s fixtures look like they will be jam-packed full of goals.

The Toon Army face Brighton, who have conceded 11 goals in their last five matches and then Manchester United, who have just shipped four against Crystal Palace and have allowed more shots than any other Premier League team in 2024.

Alexander Isak has been a regular pick in i‘s tips in recent weeks, particularly for home matches. The Swede has scored 14 goals and set up one more in only 13 games at St James’ Park this season.

He has been an excellent scoring streak over the past couple of months too with 10 goals in his last nine outings.

Price: £8.4m Points: 154 Gameweek 37 fixture(s): Brighton (h), Man Utd (a)

Dan Burn (Newcastle)

More maverick FPL managers might feel compelled to take a punt on one of Newcastle’s lower-owned defenders or even Kieran Trippier (£6.6m) who could return from injury after missing his team’s last eight league games.

However, when it comes to double gameweeks sometimes the safest play is the best play. With Jamaal Lascelles, Sven Botman and Fabian Schar all out, Big Dan Burn – as he is affectionately known by Newcastle supporters – should start against both Brighton and Manchester United.

Newcastle have kept eight clean sheets at St James’ Park ahead of Brighton’s visit on Saturday which boosts Burn’s defensive appeal and he poses an attacking threat too having accumulated an xG of three goals this season, a total only bettered by two defenders.
