McDonald’s summer menu 2024: All the big changes, including a new burger

McDonald's is launching a summer menu inspired by a season of sport

Summer is almost upon us, and with it comes the launch of McDonald’s new menu focusing on a season of sport.

With football’s Euro 2024 tournament kicking off next month and the Paris Olympics in July, the fast food chain has sets its sights on sporting success with a line-up that features a brand new burger and the return of a few fan favourites available from 29 May.

And with the hope of better weather ahead, there are a collection of cool treats for hot, sunny days.

However, there is always a catch, and with new entrants to the menu it means the departure of some regulars.

We take a look at the details.

What’s being added to the McDonald’s menu?

Brand new for the season is the Hat Trick burger, featuring three 100 per cent beef patties, two slices of cheese, grilled onions, mustard and ketchup sandwiched in a glazed sesame seed bun.

It will be priced at £5.89, or £7.69 for a meal deal.

In a nod to team spirit, the McDonald’s Chicken Sharebox is back with six Chicken Selects, 12 Chicken McNuggets, two McNugget dips and two Selects dips.

New to the Sharebox collection is the Nine Chicken Selects Sharebox, accompanied by three Selects dips.

And there is a new Select dip trio on the block: new and improved Garlic Mayo, Sweet and Smoky BBQ, and Sweet Chilli.

Back by popular demand are the Mozzarella Bites, the cheesy snacks encased in a crispy coating with a tomato dip for £2.39.

For those looking for an extra-time sweet treat, McFlurry has collaborated with a well-known confectionery to create Skittles McFlurry for £2.19.

Ice cream is swirled with the chewy Skittles fudge pieces and sugary pearls and topped with purple Skittles-flavoured sauce.

Diners after a hot dessert can order a Galaxy Chocolate and Raspberry Pie for £1.99, a crispy chocolate pastry filled with smooth chocolate ganache and a raspberry compote.

The Iced Latte is also back this summer, this time as a permanent addition at £2.49, as is the Galaxy Caramel McFlurry at £2.19.

What’s leaving the McDonald’s menu?

With the arrival of newcomers to the team sheet, it means there will be a fond farewell to a few of the older members of the McDonald’s menu on 28 May.

Leaving the savoury pitch are the Chicken Big Mac, Cheese and Herb Bites, the Quarter Pounder Deluxe and the Double Quarter Pounder Deluxe.

On the bench in the sweet treat section will be the Biscoff McFlurry and the Biscoff Frappe, the Galaxy Chocolate McFlurry and the Galaxy Caramel Pie.
