Is Vodafone down? Customers report mobile network outage across UK

Hundreds of issues were reported by customers on Tuesday morning

A Vodafone mobile network failure could be affecting thousands of customers across the UK, according to reports.

The service issue tracking website Down Detector first noted a spike in problems reported by customers around 11pm last night, when 83 reports were submitted by users.

This was followed by a much greater spike in reported issues on Tuesday morning, with 1,102 issue reports filed to the website as of just before 11am.

According to a “heat map” visualising where in the UK these reports have come from, most of the issues seem to be concentrated in London, with some smaller hot spots in other major cities including Manchester, Birmingham and Glasgow.

Vodafone has been replying to posts from frustrated customers on social media and said it was “sorry for the inconvenience” experienced by “a small number of customers”, and that it was “working hard to fix the issue”.

One customer said on X, formerly Twitter: ” @VodafoneUK Are there any issues in NR1? My phone is suddenly unable to connect to the mobile network – ’emergency calls only’, no texts, no mobile internet. Have tried putting it in and out of airplane mode and restarting, to no effect.”

Another said: “@VodafoneUK any idea why I’ve got no network. I pay my bill each month and have nothing but problems. I’m out travelling all day for work and can’t access any emails or my maps!”

The provider has been advising customers to check for known service issues in their area via its website.

You can check mobile and broadband service in your area by entering your postcode on the Vodafone website.

A spokesperson for Vodafone UK told i: “We are aware a small number of customers are experiencing issues using mobile voice and data.

“We’re sorry for the inconvenience, our team is working hard to fix the issue and we will update as soon as we can.”

This is a breaking news story and will be updated.
