For football fans everywhere there are just hours to go until the eagerly awaited EA FC 24 Team of the Year (TOTY).
The world’s outstanding football players of the past year will be celebrated in this annual event along with a list of the top players for gamers to add to their Ultimate Team.
EA FC game players began casting their votes on 9 January, 2024 and voting closed 17 January.
Now it’s time to see who made it to the team sheet.
When is the release time for the Team of the Year?
The men’s and women’s teams of the year, Ultimate XI, will be released in packs and will take over Ultimate Team for the next couple of weeks.
The collection of TOTY Icons and TOTY Honorable Mentions is also set to be released over the next few weeks.
A leaked schedule of when the different sections will be released has been posted on social media @FutSheriff.
According to this gaming source, 6pm tonight is start of the release time for the men’s and women’s teams of the year to be unveiled.
Releases are then expected to follow this timetable:
19-21 January – TOTY Attackers
21-23 January – TOTY midfielders
23-25 January – TOTY defenders and goalkeepers
25 January to 2 February – Full TOTY Ultimate XIs
Which players are likely to be included?
Although there has been no confirmation yet, there has been plenty of speculation about who will make the final eleven for both the men’s and women’s teams.
According to @FutSherif, their predictions are:
Men’s Attackers: Erling Haarland, Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi
Women’s Attackers: Samantha Kerr, Sophie Smith and Caroline Graham Hansen
Men’s Midfielders: Jude Bellingham, Kevin De Bruyne and Rodri Cascante
Women’s Midfielders: Aitana Bonmati, Alexia Putellas and Lena Oberdorf
Men’s Defenders and Goalkeepers: Alisson Becker, Jeremie Frimpong, Virgil van Dijk, Ruben Dias and Theo Hernandez
Women’s Defenders and Goalkeepers: Mary Earps, Ona Batlle, Wendie Renard, Millie Bright and Sakina Karchaoui
Meanwhile, website OptaAnalyst has also made its TOTY predictions for the men’s teams for 2024.
It has Marc-André ter Stegen as the goalkeeper, with Jeremie Frimpong, Federico Dimarco, Virgil van Dijk, Kim Min-jae as defenders.
Rodri Cascante, Jude Bellingham, Florian Wirtz are forecast to be the midfielders, while Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappé and England’s Harry Kane will be the attackers, according to the predictions.
